E-coating,electrophoresis for aluminum and zinc die casting products
E-coating can also be referred to electrophoresis, electrodeposit coating, which is a common surface coating treatment for aluminum and zinc die casting products. Generally the outside using die cast automotive parts will be always asked for e-coating process, as purpose of surface corrosion and wear resistance and decoration.
Parison has rich experience in handling electrophoresis for aluminum and zinc die cast products, especially for automotive products. We have two professional electrophoresis partners in our district cooperating with us . One of them is a TS16949 certified e-coating factory, dedicated in processing automotive products.
E-coating, electrophoresis process of die casting parts
Electrophoresis coating can also be referred to electrocoating, e-coating, electrophoretic coating and catophoretic painting etc. In any case the parts are immersed in solution in an electrified tank containing the paint. It is drawn to the parts, where the addition or subtraction of electrons change the paint from ions in solution to solid particles adhering to the aluminum die casting parts.
The coatings cover every nook and cranny because as the high spots become electrocoated, they become insulated and divert the current to the low spots. Also the coatings are extremely thin. Where the parts are big and the process is automated, such as in priming of automobile bodies, it can be quite expensive. But small setups for electrophoretic lacquering are not cost prohibitive at all.
Application of e-coated die casting products
The prime utility of e-coating is to improve surface corrosion and wear resistance for aluminum or zinc die casting products. The die casting surface processed by electrophoresis can have a high corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Besides, e-coating can also be used as a surface decoration means.
The most e-coated die casting products are those auto parts, and outside using machinery parts with high requirement of corrosion and wear resistance. The e-coating on die cast auto parts will even be sent to further painting or powder coating, where the electrophoresis layer can be very fine priming.
